Peer Trauma Support Networks

The Peer Trauma Support Network is a crucial element of trauma healing and recovery, offering individuals affected by trauma the support they need while fostering resilience. At The Child’s Dignity, we provide training and facilitate the creation of peer trauma support groups for both children and caregivers. These groups allow participants to connect, share experiences, and offer mutual support, promoting emotional healing and resilience. By establishing safe, supportive spaces for peer interaction, we empower those impacted by trauma to thrive, ensuring they have the tools and networks needed for long-term recovery.

3 Core Peer Trauma Networks

We currently operate three core Peer Trauma Support Networks, each tailored to serve specific groups within the community:

1. Nurturing The Nurturers Club

 – A supportive community for caregivers of children with special needs, offering a safe space for sharing experiences, learning coping strategies, and finding encouragement in their caregiving journey.

2. The Health Champions Network

 – A club dedicated to Community Health Workers in every sub-county, providing a platform for peer learning, mental health support and professional development to enhance their crucial work in promoting community well-being.

3.The Educators’ Wellness Hub

 – A club for school teachers and administrators focused on mental health support and self-care, equipping educators to better manage their well-being while addressing the needs of their students.

Student Peer Support Groups

Additionally, we establish Student Peer Support Groups in schools, where students are trained as peer counselors to create a culture of empathy, active listening, and resilience among their peers. These networks are integral to fostering trauma-sensitive communities that prioritize healing, growth, and mutual support.
